Ascension Seton Williamson Received DV5 Surgical Robot

Ascension Seton Williamson is the first facility in Williamson County to receive the latest robotic surgical technology.Ascension Seton Williamson (ASW) has received the first da Vinci 5 (DV5) robotic surgical system in Williamson County. The arrival of this high-tech instrument offers patients in ASW’s 14-county service area access to the latest healthcare technology closer to home.

“As part of our ongoing commitment to provide citizens in and surrounding Williamson County with the most advanced medical technology available, Ascension Seton Williamson is proud to announce this acquisition,” said ASW President Andrew Gnann. “This latest minimally invasive surgical robot will provide our exceptional surgeons with the most current equipment to care for those we are privileged to serve.”

Robotic surgery offers minimally invasive procedures resulting in smaller incisions and often shorter recovery times. The robot functions as high-tech hands for a surgeon operating the system at a console nearby and viewing the procedure through the robot’s camera.

“We are continuing to expand our capabilities,” added Charles Kaczmarek, Vice President of Surgical Services in Ascension Texas. “Adding the latest platform in robotics surgery to Ascension Seton Williamson deepens our commitment to providing advanced, compassionate care to every community we serve.”

“The addition of the DV5 to our existing fleet reflects Ascension Seton Williamson’s commitment to investing in advanced technology and expanding access to robotic-assisted care,” said Dr. Erin Koval, ASW Chief Medical Officer. “As the first of its kind in Williamson County, this strategic growth of our robotic service line ensures that our surgeons have the tools they need to deliver cutting-edge care while reaffirming our dedication to serving our community with the latest advancements in surgical innovation.”

This is the fourth DV5 surgical robot in Ascension Texas, with two others residing at Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin and one at Ascension Seton Northwest.
